(My wife is old fashioned and likes paper maps so that particular DeLorme display is just right for her). When my wife is with me (which is most of the time) she does most of the driving so i need to load up a map all done and ready to go - I too use the Street Atlas Deluxe for that job - it's easy because she can just glance at the dash and see that she is on the right route and like you say, with Street Atlas Deluxe you can actualy display a good 350 miles of your trip without the need to scroll because thier detailed maps are great! The keyboard is an issue because I am sometimes alone on long trips for work and a one man show needs the keyboard to be nailed down. As you already know, I would stay away from the in dash DVD/GPS systems. If I were you, I would just keep the laptop or just upgrade it. The only GPS unit that I'm thinking of buying right now is a Garmin 60csx and that is because my GPS V is getting old. Their updates are not cheap if they're not free.įor the reasons above, I would never buy a ready made in dash GPS system or any of the DVD flip screens that are GPS capable (yeah, more money). I have on occasions have to drive in circles or compare the waypoints to google before setting them in the unit. Some of their map updates are not even updates, at least not in my area. I can use them in either car or motorcycle. I just made sure that the deck has an aux input for my mp3 stuff.įor GPS, I have an old GPS V and a Streetpilot 2610 both purchased new. Only reason I have this and not a deck that reads flash memory is because I have a bunch of cd's and I don't feel like transferring them onto flash memory. I just have a cd player and a 8 disk cd changer hidden somewhere. I wouldn't change anything except that nasty looking deck you call a radio. Sounds like you already have things covered with the laptop setup that you have in Bulbasor.
